Multi-Operational vs. Single Operational Disc Jockeys
A few days ago I attended a open house. I asked one Bride
if she had chosen entertainment for her wedding yet.
She told me she booked _ _ _ _ Entertainment.
(A well known multi-operational company)
Because I’m very familiar with some of their DJ’s I asked her
which DJ she will have for the reception? Not surprising to me
she wasn’t sure which DJ she was getting.
Hopefully she’ll get to meet the DJ before her wedding.
When your ready to book DJ entertainment for your wedding
you will find out that there are multi-system and the single
operators.
Most Multi-Ops hire part-time sub-contracting DJ’s for events.
I only know of two Multi-Ops here in the Valley that use full
time employees to DJ events. I commend those companies
that employ their DJ’s as opposed to sub-contracting.
There are literary thousands of DJ’s to choose from most
of which are part-time. Many of the part-time DJ’s work for
multi-system companies.
The most popular DJ companies are usually big name multi-ops.
You see their ads pasted all over Bridal publications, at every
Bridal Show, or Expo, and have the top spots on every wedding
directory on the internet.
If you end up booking with a multi-system company, make sure
they’re not only employees of the company, but also have a signed
contract with that company for so many years. You don’t want to
be stress out the day of your wedding wondering who the stranger
is on the microphone, since the DJ you thought you were getting has
moved on.
If you are looking for a single full-time owner/operator find out how
long he’s been in business on his own. If he’s been in business on
his own for several years, he’s got to be doing something right.
