The Best DJ?

The Best DJ?

If you claim on being the best, you better back it.

When searching for a DJ on-line for your reception or event, you may
see claims made by many DJ’s.

Talk is cheap and in the mobile Disc Jockey industry DJ’s can sure talk
the talk, but can they walk the walk? I’ve seen all sorts of claims on
brochures and websites, “The Best DJ Service”, “50 years combined
experience”, “The Hottest DJ in Town”, “Most Requested”, and my
personal favorite “Award Winning”. After 20 years in the industry I
have yet to see judges evaluating my performance or hear about it
from other DJ’s. How do DJ companies receive awards?

I have claims on my website yet I can back everything I say. But will
these claims guarantee you will get a great performance from your DJ?

What can you do to ensure the DJ you hire will do an outstanding job
for you on your special day?

The better professionals should provide you references from past clients.
While they may perform well for most, do they perform and give 100%
for all of their clients? Are there references they will not show you?
So instead do not just ask for any references, ask for the names and emails
of the last 10 clients. If the DJ claims to be that good the clients should
not have a problem with you giving out their email to ask about their
experience, and the DJ should be happy to accommodate.

If they can not do that for you, then ask for a 100% money back guarantee.
Yes! you heard right, 100% of all your money back if you are not completely
satisfied with their services. If the DJ ruins your reception or event that
would be terrible, but at least you will receive all of your money back. If a DJ
can back his or her claims it should not be a problem. With that kind of
guarantee you can be sure your DJ will give you their best performance
and full time attention.

I will put my money where my mouth is, I am confident enough to back
my claims. Each prospective client that I meet with or contacts me can
and will receive at least 12 names with emails of the very last events to
contact. If they ask for a money back guarantee, they will get it.
It will not hurt to ask, but do not expect to find many DJ’s out there
that will do this for you.

Beware of the low budget part-time DJ’s making this claim. When they fail
to deliver they can simply pay back the few hundred dollars and take no
responsibility for the poor service delivered. With a day job to rely on
there is not much to lose.

If a DJ claims to be the best…. ask them to back It!

Secrets Behind a DJ/Entertainment Service

Secrets Behind a DJ/Entertainment Service

The “Secrets Behind” series has been a huge success and I have really enjoyed learning new things from different vendors.  Certainly a vendor that everyone has looked into at some point, is the DJ.  The stereotype has long passed, hopefully, but I will still say that there are some stragglers holding strong to the DJ image.  I’m grateful to have an interview from someone who has never had the stereotype and has been around long enough to have proven how good a DJ Service really can be.
Without further delay I present:
Secrets Behind DJ Service by Rich Siebert of Beach Boyz Entertainment

Q: What is the biggest misconception about your industry?
A: That all DJs are cheesy, they play music too loud and that all we do is just press play on an
i pod or CD player.

Negotiations / Wedding Budget / Priorities

Negotiations / Wedding Budget / Priorities

When I get a reservation request from a bride, the number one and sometimes
the only question is;  ”What are your rates?”  One reason being, it’s the first
time they’ve ever had hire a DJ and they are not sure what other questions
to ask. The other could be they don’t know what the going rate is for a
wedding DJ.   However, the biggest reason is that they are price shopping for the
cheapest DJ.  In most cases brides do not properly plan a wedding budget. Possibly
may even hired all other wedding vendors and have little left for entertainment.
That’s when I start to hear the negotiation process. “Well DJ Bob will do it
for $XXXX amount, can you beat that?” or “I’m on a very tight budget, I
can’t spend much.”

Many brides do not properly plan out a wedding budget. On the average
brides will spend twice as much of their original budget, mainly because of
what the bridal publications, wedding websites, or even TV shows that talk
or write about what you need to make your wedding look beautiful. All the
cute accessories, party favors, fancy place settings etc… There is nothing
wrong with having all the bells and whistles for your wedding as long as you
properly budget for it, and have the extra money.

What you never hear or read about is what will make your wedding day
fun or memorable. For you and your guests to have a great time during
your wedding, you need to change your game plan and figure out what
your top priorities are, and how you want your celebration to be
remembered.

Your “day-of” vendors will have the biggest impact on your wedding i.e.
entertainment, photography, catering, coordinator. Hiring the right group of
professional day-of vendors that work well together is like a well oiled engine
for your wedding day. If one part of that engine weak the whole thing can
blow up.
Professionals do not negotiate. If you try to negotiate, your only
compromising quality and service. The brides that fail to properly budget for
the most important services, are left wondering why their wedding did go as
planned.
The Professional wedding vendors and venues that advise brides about the
importance of their peers (who they work with) are the ones that truly care
about the outcome of your wedding.

Here’s an example of how ridiculous negotiating looks in real world situations.
The beginning is my favorite.
