The Best DJ?

If you claim on being the best, you better back it.

When searching for a DJ on-line for your reception or event, you may
see claims made by many DJ’s.

Talk is cheap and in the mobile Disc Jockey industry DJ’s can sure talk
the talk, but can they walk the walk? I’ve seen all sorts of claims on
brochures and websites, “The Best DJ Service”, “50 years combined
experience”, “The Hottest DJ in Town”, “Most Requested”, and my
personal favorite “Award Winning”. After 20 years in the industry I
have yet to see judges evaluating my performance or hear about it
from other DJ’s. How do DJ companies receive awards?
See What Mobile Disc Jockey’s Won’t Tell You

I have claims on my website yet I can back everything I say. But will
these claims guarantee you will get a great performance from your DJ?

What can you do to ensure the DJ you hire will do an outstanding job
for you on your special day?

The better professionals should provide you references from past clients.
While they may perform well for most, do they perform and give 100%
for all of their clients? Are there references they will not show you?
So instead do not just ask for any references, ask for the names and emails
of the last 10 clients. If the DJ claims to be that good the clients should
not have a problem with you giving out their email to ask about their
experience, and the DJ should be happy to accommodate.

If they can not do that for you, then ask for a 100% money back guarantee.
Yes! you heard right, 100% of all your money back if you are not completely
satisfied with their services. If the DJ ruins your reception or event that
would be terrible, but at least you will receive all of your money back. If a DJ
can back his or her claims it should not be a problem. With that kind of
guarantee you can be sure your DJ will give you their best performance
and full time attention.

I will put my money where my mouth is, I am confident enough to back
my claims. Each prospective client that I meet with or contacts me can
and will receive at least 12 names with emails of the very last events to
contact. If they ask for a money back guarantee, they will get it.
It will not hurt to ask, but do not expect to find many DJ’s out there
that will do this for you.

Beware of the low budget part-time DJ’s making this claim. When they fail
to deliver they can simply pay back the few hundred dollars and take no
responsibility for the poor service delivered. With a day job to rely on
there is not much to lose.

If a DJ claims to be the best…. ask them to back It!

A Disc Jockey Can Be The Master of Ceremonies Too?

If you grew up in the 80′s or early 90′s you couldn’t miss the early rap
and hip hop videos. Then the rap stars would gloss themselves the MC,
With a partner being the DJ behind the turntables. i.e. MC
Hammer, Young MC, Rob Base & DJ EZ Rock, DJ Jazzy Jeff etc..
These artists were self proclaimed MC’s because they rapped on the
microphone. That is one style of an MC. I had a guest at a wedding once
ask me what does MC mean after I introduced myself as the MC for
this evening.
Today some people still misinterpret what an MC really is. A Master of
Ceremonies is a person / performer who acts as host and someone who
conducts a program of varied entertainment at a formal event. A
professional MC is a well spoken talented host with hundreds of hours
of training and experience i.e. Dick Clark, Ryan Seacrest.

A DJ can be the MC too?

Yes it’s true, a DJ can also be trained to speak as your Master of Ceremonies.
I read a post yesterday on The Knot forums.

A bride was reviewing her vendors after the wedding. The DJ got a great review QUOTE
“T_ _y did such a great job. With _ _ _ (DJ service) you get both a DJ and an MC which
was very nice.” Meaning you get 2 people, a DJ and a Master of Ceremonies. Don’t get me
wrong I’m very glad to hear that her wedding went great. What she may not realize is that
she paid extra to have 2 people, (a DJ and an MC) as opposed to one person who could
realistically do both.
There are professional Disc Jockeys who are also professional MC’s too. Billy Joel,
Elton John, Harry Connick Jr., Alicia Keys are just a few artists that can play the piano and
sing at the same time. Therefore a DJ can play music and preform as your MC at the same
time.
A DJ and an MC for a wedding is not only nice, but it’s mandatory if you want direction and
flow for your reception. If you choose a DJ that’s not a true MC and is not comfortable on a
microphone, he will not have the respect or command of your guests as they will tune him or
her out the reast of the night. All direction and flow will be lost.
A well trained, talented, experienced MC can really make a big difference by captivating and
directing an audience in a professional classy manner without taking the focus off the guest
of honor and help the flow of your wedding or event run smoothly.
